French Flair onboard LE SOLEAL
Galway Harbour Company welcomed the arrival of the newly launched cruise ship LE SOLEAL of the Companie du Ponant line recently. The majestic LE SOLEAL anchored at Mutton Island on Wednesday evening in glorious balmy weather conditions.
That evening local traditional musicians and Irish Dancers performed onboard for her 264 passengers. Cruise Director Eric Noir described the performance as “Superb” “Fantastic” & “Amazing”.
Thursday saw all 264 passengers disembark on tours of Connemara and the city, some by pre arranged coaches, some by hire car and some by chauffeured cars. The medieval walking tours of Galway city being particularly popular.
The ship is particularly beautiful, mirroring her sisters L’Austral and Le Boreal. Captain Brian Sheridan, Harbour Master said he savoured the ‘delectable cuisine’ during a tour of the ship and witnessed the well equipped gymnasium, Spa and the salon de coiffure. The ship was pristine and he noted the ease of navigating her decks and simply getting about the ship. It was evident that those onboard had a role to play in her design.
Companie du Ponant was a regular visitor to Galway with the ship Le Diamant and he said he was delighted to welcome LE SOLEAL on her maiden cruise to Ireland’s most western seaport. The ship was a beautiful backdrop for the citizens to see from the Salthill Promenade, particularly on such a perfect day.
