Silver Explorer 25th May 2012
On Friday the 25th May the first of this year’s Cruise Liners docked in Galway. The recently renamed Silver Explorer had arrived from Glengarif at 08:00 hrs where the harbour pilot Captain Bob Ellis boarded the vessel south of Mutton Island.
Although it was a tight squeeze, the vessel moored safely in Galway much to the passengers delight at witnessing the navigational skill of the Master and Pilot.
The passengers spend a half day in Galway and had a trip to Kylemore Abbey. At 18:00 hrs the passengers were entertained by 4 local galway Irish dancing girls and the ship sailed at 19:15 hrs
Harbour Master Captain Brian Sheridan said “that the docking of this vessel inside the inner harbour, close to the city was a great spectacle and it gave Galwegians a chance to see the majestic Silver Explorer up close and dominating the harbour. The next cruise vessel (Bremen) is scheduled for June 7th and will anchor in the roads.”
